The Self-Care Academic Research Unit (SCARU) is a collaboration of the Department of Primary and Public Health, Imperial College London, with the International Self Care Foundation and the (UK) Self Care Forum.

In late February 2019 SCARU was invited to visit Malaysia to discuss the question “How do we introduce self-care into the country?” Presentations and discussions were held with Monash University, Kuala Lumpur, the South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO), the United Nations University Institute for International Global Health (UNU-IIGH), and the University of Malaya Social Wellbeing Research Centre.
