Researchers in academia are taking much more interest in self-care, with a significant rise in the number of self-care publications over time. A new “International Center for Self-Care Research” (ICSCR) has been established, based in Rome and funded by the Australian Catholic University. ISF participated in the establishment and launch conference, addressing the subjects of self-care policy, barriers and facilitators. The focus of the new centre is self-care for people with a condition, such as heart failure, stroke or diabetes. The research agenda was discussed and our first publication entitled “Self-care research: Where are we now? Where are we going?” has been accepted for publication.
