Objects of the ISF

The charity’s officially stated objects (purpose) are the relief of sickness by the promotion, preservation and protection of health. This will be based on the context of self-care, which can be defined as the maintenance of healthy lifestyles and encompasses the concepts of hygiene (general and personal), nutrition (type and quality of food eaten), lifestyle (sporting activities, leisure etc), environmental factors (living conditions, social habits, etc.) socio-economic factors (income level, cultural beliefs, etc.) and self-medication.

To achieve this, the charity will aim:

  • To promote better health through the benefits of self-care and healthy lifestyles with a particular focus on keeping people healthy.
  • To advance the education of the public in preserving and protecting health by the provision of educational support and information on self-care and healthy lifestyles to individuals based on the best available evidence (particularly from the World Health Organisation), and deemed best practice.
  • To help in the development of health practices and systems, ancillary to those provided by the doctors, focusing on the development of disease prevention services and activities.
